A 22-year-old Ester-hazy man who has spent nearly 18 months on remand facing numerous drugs- and weapons-related charges has pleaded guilty, but won’t be sentenced for another seven months.

A former chief of the Key First Nation has again pleaded guilty to drug trafficking. Clarence Papequash, 64, was a member of the band council on February 15 when he was charged with 10 drugs- and firearms-related offences.

Recently, the province proclaimed March as Rural Women’s Month in Saskatchewan. “One quarter of farm operators in Saskatchewan are women, and rural women work in all areas of our agriculture industry,” Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart said.

The International Woman’s Day event on the Keeseekoose First Nation was meant to recognize and value women in the region, and continue to work for equality.

Yorkton’s Nick Fetsch was awarded the Grassroots Player of the Year 2016 by Sask Soccer. Fetsch received his award on Saturday, Mar. 18 at a banquet in Swift Current.
