Yorkton This Week

Dear Editor: In the past and presumably in the future oil, potash and grain prices will rise and fall. Potash and oil prices seem to have larger rebounds and affect the economy almost immediately.

Dear Editor: Do farmers really believe a market exists for grain sales? Many farmers are complaining about grain prices being offered this winter especially for wheat.

Dear Editor: I have recently moved to Yorkton from a small town near Dauphin where I have been quite active in community affairs, most of my adult life.

Kin Week has been declared for the week of Feb. 27 to March 6 in Yorkton. The declaration was made by a unanimous decision of Yorkton Council at its regular meeting last Tuesday, Feb.

Land designated for a new city cemetery has been released for other uses.

Yorkton Council was given an overview of the goals of the Main Street Saskatchewan Program (MSSP).

To say the least, the preliminary City of Yorkton budget unveiled at the Committee of the Whole meeting of Council Tuesday, Feb. 21 was an interesting one.

I heard the news as I pulled into Pita Pit for supper. First came the familiar music of my favourite CBC radio show, then the voice I and millions of listeners loved so well. “I’m Stuart Mclean and this is the Vinyl Cafe.” The newscaster cut in.
