Yorkton This Week

Parkland College recently marked the conclusion of a Housing Maintenance/Essential Skills program at Keeseekoose First Nation. Seven students successfully completed the program and were celebrated at a ceremony on Feb. 17.

The Health Foundation is starting a new venture, and one lucky winner will have a new place to call home thanks to it. The Health Foundation’s first home lottery has begun.

Frances Ethel Rhinas (nee Greenstein) was born September 27, 1927 to Catherine and Joseph Greenstein; one of four children. Frances grew up on the family farm near Rhein, SK and attended Wallace School and later Yorkton Collegiate.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lester Sebastian Fink, 72, of Yorkton, SK, who lost his battle with brain cancer and entered eternal rest on February 18, 2017. Les was born in Regina, SK on October 23, 1944.

Alice "Jean" Thorsness (nee Morrison) of Bredenbury, SK, passed away peacefully in hospital on February 18, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Jean was born August 26, 1929 in Yorkton, SK to Mary (nee Boyd) and Dan Morrison.

Mr. Jim Shaw, resident of Yorkton, long time Canada Post employee, husband of Marcy, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 62 years of age.

Chad Young beloved son of Dallas and Paula young of the Bredenbury district passed away in the early morning of February 10, 2017 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Chad was born in the same hospital on May 20, 1999.

Alvin Kenneth Guenther. August 31, 1935 - February 13, 2017. Alvin Kenneth Guenther passed away on February 13, 2017 in Saanich, BC. Ken grew up in Yorkton, resided in Saskatoon and later moved to Vancouver Island, BC.

Brother Isidore Wasylenchuk passed away peacefully at Loretto Abbey on Friday, February 17, 2017 in his 92nd year.
