Willowbrook Lions President, Eugene Maystrowich presented a cheque for $2,000 to Ross Fisher, Executive Director, of The Health Foundation, to assist with purchasing the new equipment for the ICU.

There are big changes coming for the Boys and Girls Club of Yorkton. The club is growing, and has a new space for their middle years programming.

Sonya Solonas had a challenging childhood. A ward of the state, as it was commonly referred to back then, she was cut loose at age 18 to fend for herself without much in the way of skills or supports.

The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed October 16-22, 2016 as Education Week in Saskatchewan. Today, Deputy Premier and Education Minister Don Morgan was at École Lakeview School in Saskatoon to celebrate with staff and students.

The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce has traditionally hosted all-candidate forums with a focus on the Yorkton Council candidates answering questions of particular interest to the business community.

The Yellowhead International Speedway held the season’s final stockcar races on Saturday, Oct. 15. The event was originally planned to take place over two days, but Sunday’s rainy weather prevented the second day from going ahead.

The Saskatchewan High Schools Athletics Association held its provincial cross-country meet in Delisle on Oct. 15. Yorkton was well represented at the meet, with athletes from both Yorkton Regional High School and Sacred Heart High School competing.

The Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League played two games on home ice over the last week. On Tuesday, Oct. 11 they faced the Estevan Bruins at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

CrossFit Function in Yorkton hosted its second annual Highway 9 Throwdown fitness competition on Oct. 15 and 16. Taryn Dubreuil is the owner of CrossFit Function. She and Bren Thompson were the event coordinators for Highway 9 Throwdown.
