Dear Editor: A March 15th Postmedia news story states that cows release methane gas by burping and farting (their terminology, not mine), and are responsible for a significant amount of the world's green house gas.

The 2011 Regionals of Saskatchewan High Schools Athletics Association basketball got off to a good start for the Yorkton Regional Raiders senior boys team last weekend. They beat Prince Albert Carlton in their opening game, 48-47.

The Yorkton Terriers are coming off a split in LaRonge over the weekend where they lost one and won one to tie up the Credit Union Cup finals at 1-1. The teams were scheduled to get together to play Games 3-4 this week at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

The Cab Clothing Yorkton Regional High School Female Athlete of the Month for March is Kyla Bassingthwaite. Kyla is in Gr. 12 student at the YRHS.

Moisture reports from the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority show that East Central Saskatchewan is the region of the province likely to be hardest-hit by excessive runoff this spring.

Two area artisans have found a way to recycle things from our past into items which are both artistic and functional. Morley Maier and Shelley Westerberg have been creating unique birdhouses out of recycled lumber and adornments for several years.

The monthly meeting of Laketown Leaders is Thurs., April 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the Stirling Room. All are welcome. Saltcoats United Church office hours are Mondays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with Wednesdays from 8:30 to noon.

The 12th Annual Charity Golf Classic for Health will be held on Thursday, June 9 at the Good Spirit Lake Golf and Family Resort, with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. "We have two goals for this tournament.
