Yorkton This Week

A charge of first degree murder has been laid in connection to the death of Yorkton's Jimmy Ray Wiebe. Twenty-year-old Kyle Braeden Furness of Yorkton was arrested on Thursday evening and charged with first degree murder the following day.

Mail is scheduled to begin flowing again this week with the federal government's passage of legislation ending the Canada Post lockout and forcing postal workers back to the job on Monday.

The Rink Board would like to thank all who attended and helped at the Rink Benefit Garage Sale and hotdog stand on Saturday. We netted $580.00.

Robyn Torrie and Karen Preston were two of the locals who took part in the Health Foundation's Learn to Run clinic last Tuesday afternoon outside the Yorkton Regional High School.

It's been a busy year for the Yorkton and District Horticultural Society, culminating in our last official meeting last week until fall.

The Yorkton United had high hopes for all club teams entered in the QC United Tournament held in Regina June 17-19. Unfortunately, heavy rains forced the closure of grass field in Regina. Only the new Leibel Field was available.
