North Battleford city council has approved a discretionary land use application by The Lighthouse supported living to build a three-bedroom apartment unit. The apartments would be within their existing facility at 962 - 102nd St.

Battleford’s mayor, Derek Mahon, issued a vote of congratulations to the firefighters from the Town’s fire department who went north recently to help fight a forest fire in the La Ronge area.

The Town of Battleford has awarded the tender for this year’s paving projects to D. Jorgenson Holdings Ltd., which operates as Northern Blacktop of Saskatoon. At last week’s meeting, the tender was awarded for $698, 727.

A major fire in the early hours of Thursday morning has destroyed the Bargain Shop on 101st Street in North Battleford. The North Battleford Fire Department was called to the fire at 4:28 a.m.

Another subdivision application by the RM of North Battleford has caught the attention of city officials in North Battleford. The proposed subdivision would be just west of Millar Road, north of Forest Hall Road north of the city.

The 2014 Crime Severity Index for Canadian cities with a population over 10,000 has been released by Statistics Canada.

In spite of a decrease in crime across the board in 2014, North Battleford remains at the top of the Crime Severity Index for cities over 10,000 population. Statistics Canada released its 2014 police-reported crime statistics numbers Wednesday.
