Dear Editor Let's imagine in 2011 you were appointed the sole UN observer of a democratic election in a country. You watched closely for bribing or bullying of voters and witnessed none. You declared it a fair election and yet you were perplexed.

More than people gathered at the Speers Recreation Centre the weekend of Aug. 1-3 for a Cunningham reunion. Family came from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Copenhagen, Sweden.

The Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame has selected the 1932-36 Regina Nationals for induction into the team category.

Born in Outlook, I grew up on the prairies. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with an education degree, a teaching career ensued. In 1971 a move to the Battlefords was followed by teaching junior high until retirement.

Battlefords Lawn Bowling Club hosted a grassroots tournament Aug. 8-10. The first game was played Friday evening. It was just completed when the skies opened and the rain poured.

Sometimes we see it coming. Other times we don't. There are times we think we know what to expect but life throws us a curve we weren't expecting. Usually it is a little bit of "all of the above." Change. Personally, I love my ruts.

Tillie Linkert spent an enjoyable day with her daughter in Lloydminster. She was planning to spend the long weekend with her family in Loon Lake. Marilyn Stewart was to the Berry Farm at Marshall with the people from Pine Island Lodge.
