Sympathy is extended to the family of Albert Joseph "Maurice" Lane of Neilburg. He passed away in Unity Jan. 6 at the age of 95 years.

Imagine this: You're standing backstage listening to the buzz of the audience. The house lights dim. The audience quiets. You hear the beginning chords of the first song. The stage lights come on and you step on stage to a roaring crowd.

2014 may have just begun but the registration deadline for this year's Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival is quickly approaching. The deadline for entries is Saturday, Feb. 1.

Battlefords RCMP responded to more than 20 calls for service/occurrences between 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 and Wednesday, Jan. 15. Among those calls were two alarms. Tuesday 10:29 a.m.

North Battleford has found its new top executive. It was announced Monday night that Jim Puffalt has been named city manager and will take over officially Jan. 27. Puffalt has over 30 years of experience in municipal management.

Kelvington RCMP are reporting missing snowmobiler Dennis Malischewski has been located. After an extensive ground and air search, Malischewski and his snowmobile were located by the ground search team near Kelvington at about 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

One of my annual (or should I say 'perennial') New Year's resolutions is to try at least one recently introduced plant. There are many to choose from and so the problem becomes selecting one that I am confident will grow well in my garden.
