There was willingness to meet, but no firm commitments from Battlefords-Lloydminster MP Gerry Ritz about federal help towards public safety in North Battleford this past week.

Dear Editor: I read with interest your article, Lilac church: historic landmark needs repairs (Regional Optimist Dec. 5). I will try to relate some of the memories and activities in the 1950s and '60s.

Former youth worker Christopher Passley has been sentenced to two years less a day in jail in connection to a vicious beating of his girlfriend in the city.

Here is a rundown of some of the other items that came up at the Dec. 9 meeting of North Battleford city council.

RCMP in North Battleford are calling shifts between 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 quiet, when they were called to less than 20 occurrences. Among those calls were three false alarms. Tuesday 6:29 a.m.

The Battlefords North Stars continue to have a hard time against the Kindersley Klippers. The North Stars lost 3-1 in Kindersley Tuesday night, dropping five of their last six games against the Klippers.

Battlefords RCMP were called to 25 incidents between 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16 and 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17. Among those calls were two false alarms and three incidents where 911 was misused. Monday 9:28 a.m.
