After an all too short Christmas holiday it's back to school for local students Jan. 3. University students return to classes Jan. 7. Best wishes to all of you for a happy and productive semester.

'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house, nothing would fit me, not even a blouse; The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I had to taste, at the holiday parties had gone to my waist; When I got on the scales there arose such a number!

Dear Editor The federal government is in the process of washing their hands of PFRA community pastures.

Ed, my neighbour next door, claims we should refuse to change years. "Why not just stick with the same year each Jan. 1? There is no reason we couldn't do the same year over and over," Ed insists.

One of the overwhelming things about the holidays is the packaging. After unwrapping gifts there were piles of papers. The Boxing Day advertisements filled the mail box and toys and gadgets were carefully packed into boxes and quickly set aside.

New Year's Eve at Maymont Seniors' Center was a great event again this year. Family and friends gathered to bring in the New Year, enjoying games, entertainment and a potluck lunch. Thanks to everyone who attended.

Primary health care and preservation of senior long term care infrastructure were discussed when the Prairie North Regional Health Authority held regular monthly board meetings Dec. 19 in North Battleford and Nov. 28 in Lloydminster.

Happy New Year! Happy birthday today to our 18-year-old girl, Shelby - time has flown. We will treasure every moment as this is her graduation year.

The Canadian Legion of Riders year started out in February. To kill the winter blues we held a fish fry at Legion Branch 70.We sold memberships and swag, had a few 50/50 draws and fed around 200 guests.
