Enough is enough

Dear Editor On a very serious note and regarding the Idle No More movement, I offer the following: Over the years we have all listened and watched as successive Canadian governments have tried to deal with the residue of our colonial past.

Ice ready to go at local rink

The Waseca skating, natural ice-skating, rink has been in use for some time. We hope the mild weather didn't affect the ice. Sig and Ada Schimelfenig are enjoying their winter in Arizona.

Bingo supports Edam Handi Van

A Handi Van bingo was held Jan. 11 with Bonnie Letwinetz acting as caller. This month the winners of the regular bingo games received chickens. Thanks to Dora Greening for donating the prizes for the youngsters who attended.

The Lyla Wakefield Memorial Shuffleboard tournament was held at the Neilburg Seniors' Center Jan. 15. Rose Leitheiser and LaVonne Rutherford teamed up to win the event and they will have their names engraved on the trophy that hangs in the center.

The Battlefords Photo Club held its first meeting of 2013 Jan. 8. The club's focus of the meeting was night photography.

January: Tom Caldwell's 87th Birthday. Wing night fundraiser at Maymont Hotel for Relay for Life. Ten-year-old Korbin Prescesky caught an 11 pound eight ounce jackfish. Sherman and family travelled to Hawaii.

Curling and hockey rock community centre

Between a curling bonspiel and a hockey tournament, the Saskcan Community Centre was a busy place the weekend of Jan. 12. The annual men's and women's joint curling bonspiel spilled over three days and the curling rink was abuzz with activity.

Seniors' activities to support Telemiracle

Bingo was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Jan. 2, with a good turnout. Margaret MacEachern and Jean Hartman did the calling. Lunch was provided by Noel Coulthard.
