Saskatchewan auctioneer Frederick Bodnarus of Bodnarus Auctioneering was awarded the 2012 Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) Auctioneer Champion title at CWA in Regina in November.

Margaret Beach was born on May 28, 1930 in her parents' home at 972 York Street (now 104th Street), North Battleford. This was the beginning of the Dirty Thirties, a time of terrible economic hardship.

The Battlefords Midget Stars made their first appearance at the Mac's Tournament in Calgary in 12 years. The Midget Stars got started on the right foot, as they won their first two round robin games.
