A 53-year old Lloydminster man is dead following a head-on collision just north of Lloydminster. The collision happened on Highway 17, about two kilometers north of Lloydminster, and involved a northbound pickup truck and a southbound semi.

GUBBE - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Gubbe, late of Battleford, on December 15, 2012 at the age of 85 years. Eleanor is survived by her twin brother Sam (Margaret) Parrish, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Borden School Kindergarten to Grade 6 held their annual Christmas Concert Dec. 20 in the Borden Community Centre. The hall was full to watch the little ones sing and present a play.

While visiting friends in Manitoba a while back, I noticed something while going for a walk in their neighbourhood. Every fourth house or so, there was a green plastic box on the lawn.

One of the top teams from British Columbia faced one of the top teams in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League and the Saskatchewan representatives earned the win.

The Battlefords Bantam AA Barons are near the .500 mark heading into the Christmas break. The Barons played Friday against North East and Sunday against Sask Valley. Friday, the Barons fell 7-1.

We wish Milt McMillan, who is in the Maidstone Hospital a speedy recovery. Coffee at the Pine Island Suites was very much enjoyed. We played bingo for prizes all wrapped up in Christmas ribbons and bows.

The Battlefords Midget Stars made their first Mac's Tournament appearance in 12 years in the international event in Calgary. The Stars first game was against the Greater Vancouver Canadians Wednesday at 10 a.m.
