The Town of Battleford made several major deals with local companies in its last meeting before the municipal election Oct. 24. On the agenda was a renewed agreement with the local union, CUPE local no. 3003.

Mayor Ian Hamilton wrapped up his first term as North Battleford mayor Monday. It was the last regular scheduled meeting of the current mayor and council before the municipal election Oct. 24.

Volunteerism at its best was experienced in North Battleford this past weekend. From Oct. 12 to 14, volunteer firefighters congregated from all over the province to learn new skills and safety procedures.

Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation's Festival of Trees is approaching, with festivities planned from Friday, Nov. 30, to Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at the Gold Ridge Centre. Ladies' Night kicks off the three day event Nov.

My motivation to serve on the City of North Battleford Council is based on my firm belief that the best use of my abilities is to give back to the community that has given so much to me.

Issues about garbage being dumped in the surrounding RM, as well as a draft agreement on the First Nations Heritage Park, dominated the final meeting of North Battleford's outgoing council before the 2012 civic election.

Starting this fall, 4-H members can belong to clubs in Saskatchewan until age 25. The change was made by the Saskatchewan 4-H Council at their May meeting.

I graduated from St Thomas College in 1965 then studied Commerce at the Uof S until 1970.

Past and present citizens of the year are now being honoured on a wall at Territorial Place Mall. The mall has officially unveiled its citizen of the year wall inside the mall.

October, the month that brings us fabulous skylines at sunset and sunrise, in addition to fantastic scenery as leaves shed and golden brown takes over our landscape.
