There were a few small issues dealt with at the Aug. 20 Town Council meeting, but with Mayor Chris Odishaw out of the community, the election on the way and the slower pace of summer politics, there were few major issues on the table.

Harvest is officially in full swing. The frost scare last week was a little early and let's hope this year's harvest can get in the bin with minimal interruptions and weather distractions.

A main stay of entertainment at the Battlefords Ag. Society's Territorial Days have always been the provincial chuckwagons and chariots. Winning top honours in the chuckwagon races was Steven Galloway.

CARRIERE (ABRAHAMSON): Janice Carriere (Abrahamson) born June 14, 1949 passed away unexpectant and peacefully August 15, 2012 in Saskatoon University Hospital with her children and grandchildren at her side.

The baseball stories started early in the morning Saturday and went well into the evening. That was exactly what the 2012 inductees of the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame would want.

Two youths who pled guilty to aggravated assault in connection to a bear spray attack on another youth in North Battleford are going to be behind bars. The two were sentenced Tuesday in North Battleford provincial court.

As you can tell for the last little while we have traveled to many places and enjoyed many outings. This weekend we were in Hafford at their Summer Sizzler. There was a buzz around the town and all the volunteers were busy.

The volunteers of Community in Bloom and the Maidstone Cemetery Committee deserve a big thank you from all residents of Maidstone and surrounding district.

Blaine Lake Senior Centre re-opening was held the evening of Aug. 5, bringing the centennial celebrations to a close. Blaine Lake Senior Centre president Marj Pool welcomed the group of individuals to the new and improved centre.
