Bryan Forster began his baseball career in 1916 in Dysart as a batboy where his father was the manager. He progressed through the minor ball system and played some senior ball there.

Blaine Lake's production of Annie was a huge success with four well-attended performances from July 11 through July 14. Seating capacity exceeded 85 at each performance.

The heritage farmyard of Maria DeGirolamo was host to the 11th annual fly-in for the Recreational Aircraft Association July 7. The pre-arranged gathering of small aircraft welcomed 13 airplanes for an afternoon barbecue and social.

Boats from Saskatchewan and Alberta gathered in Meota for the Battlefords Sailing Club Regatta once again. Although it was perfect lake weather Saturday it wasn't ideal for sailing because of the lack of wind.

Now that the weather is finally co-operating, it's time to take a vacation. Or is it? Many people think they are too busy to take a real vacation, one where the smart phone stays at home and work is truly turned off for days at a time.

With the near-nightly thunderstorms the Northwest have seen for the last few weeks, compulsive weather-watchers may be scratching their heads at the "watches" and "warnings" given out seemingly at random.

While on holidays, I was shown through a most interesting factory in Humboldt. This factory makes portable stages for all over North America. The main sections of the stage are made from 3/4 inch Douglas fir shipped from Oregon in the United States.

In Canada, Saskatchewan holds the dubious honour of being the location of Canada's deadliest tornado in history.

Former Unity resident, Alyssa Weninger, has earned success in the sport of rowing in Canada.

I'm sitting here in Brooklin, Ont. Enjoying the beautiful cool evening on my daughter's deck. It is Canada Day and hopefully I'll be able to see some fireworks from here. The rest of the family took off to see them from a far better vantage point.
