Evelyn Viola Ballsrud (nee Johnston ) November 21, 1922 - May 24, 2012 Evelyn Ballsrud, of Osoyoos, BC passed away peacefully at Mariposa Gardens in her 91st year. She was predeceased by her husband Luth in 1991.

The Town of Hafford is fortunate to have a Communities in Bloom (CiB) organization within its community. The organization was established in 2010 by a group of like-minded individuals who saw the benefits of working towards beautifying the community.

The issue of what to do about a local improvement on 100th Street has been settled. Council voted 5-1 for final passage of a local improvement bylaw on 100th Street between 27th and 25th Avenues.

The expansion of Scott Campbell Dodge is now underway. The building plan for the expansion of the car dealership, dated May 18 and signed by building inspector Jerry Wintonyk, was before council at their regular meeting.

Fans of Jackwagon, mark your calendars. The "greatest band in the universe," made up of Laird Brittin, Neil Georget, Ryan Bater and Jay Bottomly is inviting its fans to "get jacked" for their concert June 9 at Bennigan's.

"Art programs are important to have in a high school, as they allow students to express themselves and promotes creative thinking," said Rosie Dyck, John Paul II's art teacher.

The Riverbend Fellowship Church ladies held a spring fling salad supper and program in the Borden Seniors' Centre May 25. Entertaining were the Sounding Joy quartet of Donna Andres, Susan Goerz, Lori Jeschke and Gwen Andres playing piano and singing.

It's been a busy last few days for Biggar MLA Randy Weekes. The veteran Saskatchewan Party MLA has been hard at work getting up to speed with his new duties as Rural and Remote Health minister in the Brad Wall government.

Just two scores were reported from the Battlefords and District Ladies' Fastball League this week and both results show how well the Unity Midget Panthers are doing this season.

June 16, local residents will have an opportunity to support a charity that has, for the last 12 years, raised awareness and funds for prostate cancer through motorcycle, snowmobile, watercraft and ATV rides.
