Welcome to all readers of this very interesting Regional Optimist. This being my first column, I'll give a little background information. My husband and I have three grown children and nine beautiful grandchildren.

Time to register kindergarten students for the fall

Do you have a child eligible to attend kindergarten in the fall of 2012? Registration forms have been mailed out but if you are new to the community, or have been missed, please contact the school as soon as possible.

Potholes as highway patrol

Hundreds of speeding tickets did little to deter those who preferred to drive past Battleford at 80 km/h. The problem has now been solved, albeit temporarily, by the many enormous potholes that line stretch of highway.

Do you think it's possibly spring? Being that we never really experienced much of a winter I am reluctant to think this nice weather is spring, however I am certainly enjoying it while it lasts.

Spiritwood RCMP are requesting the public's assistance in locating 54-yer-old Cyril Jules Fineday of the Witchekan Lake First Nation. Fineday was last seen in Saskatoon March 12.

81st festival wraps up with gala Friday

The Battleford Beaver Blues had the Glaslyn North Stars on the ropes heading into game four of the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League championship series Friday night. The Beaver Blues led the series 2-1, as the teams took to the ice in Turtleford.

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School senior boys' and girls' basketball teams are no strangers to the HOOPLA scene. The girls went from losing in regionals in 2009 to fourth at provincials the next year and earning bronze last season.
