The new ban on recyclables at the city landfill, as well as the 50 per cent increase in fees, has caught some businesses by surprise.

The Battlefords Midget Stars ended the regular season Feb. 19 and that day, the Stars drew the winners of the 2012 lottery. The winners are as follows: Grand prize winner of $2,000 - Natelle Clark, Aberdeen.

Town council was full of surprises Tuesday, with only four councillors, no Mayor Chris Odishaw, a gallery full of guests and one special, silent visitor. Odishaw had announced that he would miss the meeting at the last town council meeting Feb.

We arrived safely Feb. 15 and the weather is great here - warm and sunny with temperatures in the high 20s. My son Bryan lives on an acreage, so there are lots of horses, dairies and sheep close by.
