Len Taylor has been the NDP MLA for the Battlefords since 2003, but he has been part of the political scene in the area for much longer.

When I have talked to others who write for newspapers, I often hear the comments that sometimes there isn't much going on to report on. At times, these remarks come from news people who live in communities the size of North Battleford.

BINGHAM: The family of Freddie Bingham, of Cut Knife, SK, sadly announces his passing on October 1, 2011. At Fred's request there will be no Funeral Service but a Memorial Get Together will take place at the farm next summer.

PEARSALL: Victor Hugh Pearsall, S.O.M. Formerly of Cochin, Saskatchewan and late of Edam, Saskatchewan, Vic died at Edam on September 25, 2011 at the age of 96 years.

Liberal leader Ryan Bater showed off one of his other talents Saturday night - his musical talent.

HOOD: John Alexander (Jack) second child born to Sandy and Jean Hood on November 28, 1932. He passed away on September 39, 2011 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Connie and Hughene and grandson Michael.

Herb Cox is no stranger by now to voters in the Battlefords constituency.

The Battlefords Midget Stars remain winless after falling 6-1 to the Saskatoon Blazers Friday. The Blazer's used a power play goal in the first period, three goals in the second and two in the third to earn the victory.

HRABIA: In Loving Memory of Helen Hrabia who was born May 1, 1919 at Krydor, SK and passed away September 24, 2011 at Saskatoon, SK.

During the early morning hours of Sept. 20, three businesses located on Thatcher Avenue and one on the 2700 block of 99th Street in North Battleford were victims of break and enters. All the businesses sustained damage and had property stolen.
