Over the last while vandalism again raised its ugly head here in Meota.

Police are reporting the theft of fuel from a farm located in a rural area near Cando, Saskatchewan. Battlefords Rural RCMP and the police dog service attended the complaint on Jan. 13 around 11pm.

The young people of the village and area keep busy with basketball, figure skating, hockey and bowling. The community centre has been the scene of several parties over the holiday season.

Bingo was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Dec. 28 with Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. Margaret also provided the lunch. The loonie pot was won by Bev Stewart. The game 500 was played Jan.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks tried to kept their games on the weekend close, but returned home without a win after facing the sixth place Melville Prairie Fire. The Sharks faced off with Melville losing 5-2 and 6-1 on the road trip.

A fire that broke out Saturday on Sweetgrass First Nation is under investigation by the RCMP. According to police, the fire started shortly before 4:30 p.m., with the residence already engulfed in flames as police arrived.
