ORDE: In Loving Memory of Gwendolyn Elizabeth Orde who was born March 24, 1924 at Halifax, NS and passed away November 12, 2011 at North Battleford, SK.

Congratulations to Milt McMillan who celebrated his 97th birthday Monday, Thursday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday the grandchildren and great-grandchildren visited. Monday the immediate family enjoyed Chinese food and cards.

Christmas parties and programs are underway keeping everyone busy. Doug McLaine attended a Christmas party in Neilburg on Friday evening, Dec. 2. It was sponsored by his employers, the Urlachers.

The North Stars continue to impress and the most recent accomplishment to go along with their 26-5-0-2 record is a sweep of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's player of the week awards. The player of the week was Blake Tatchell.

École Père Mercure has announced it is in the final stages of creating an International Baccalaureate Primary Years program for students aged three to 12. The process to create an IB program was started in 2009 and will be finished before April 2012.

GEORGE: Marian (Jo) Our Mother, formerly of North Battleford and Livelong, passed away after a long and full life, on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at the Dalmeny Special Care Home. Predeceased by her husband, Les, of 56 years.

Of all the immigrant communities I've encountered in the Battlefords, the Serbian immigrant community is among the most fascinating. Unlike other immigrants, their reason for coming to Canada is relatively uninteresting.

WICKSTRAND: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marguerite Beryl Wickstrand, late of North Battleford, Saskatchewan on November 26, 2011 at the age of 86 years. Marguerite was born on August 25, 1925 at Lashburn, Saskatchewan.

The past week's weather featured a very high wind, not much snow and cloudy skies. Temperatures have been below zero for the most part.

SIMARD: Myrtle Marion Simard (Caron) of North Battleford passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 13, 2011 after a short stay in Battlefords Union Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her family: Jeanette and Darrell of Langly, B.C.
