Captain Travis Sparrow soars to SJHL honour

Rarely does a shutdown defenceman get the praise and recognition for the SJHL player of the week awards, but the Battlefords North Stars defenceman Travis Sparrow played well at the Showcase and earned the honour for the week of Oct. 10 to 16.

Rifle among stolen items

A 22-250 Remington rifle was among items stolen in a series of thefts reported in Lashburn Oct. 6. Maidstone RCMP say a 2004 Ford F150 with a red Honda Foreman quad in the box was stolen sometime between 2 and 2:30 a.m. that day.

Upgrader gate damaged

A locked gate at the Husky Upgrader at Lloydminster was crashed into and forced down by a vehicle sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday, according to Maidstone RCMP. Police say the vehicle is suspected to be a smaller car.
