Highway 16 through Lloydminster from 40th Avenue to the Husky Upgrader closed at 7 a.m. today as Canadian Pacific crews begin repairs to a damaged overpass. The work is expected to be completed today.

The candidates running in the Battlefords all plan to keep campaigning up until the Nov. 7 vote.

A youth peer home will be opening in Battleford Nov. 1.

Candidates from the four political parties running in the Battlefords were at the Western Development Museum for the Chamber of Commerce's all-candidates election forum Oct. 26.

Access Communications Co-operative will head to the streets on Halloween night to conduct their annual children's safety program - the Pumpkin Patrol. 2011 marks the 14th year for the program. From 6 to 9 p.m.

An oil spill at an oilfield lease site in the Edam area that will cost an estimated $15,000 to clean up was caused by vandals, according to Turtleford RCMP. Police say perpetrators entered the site sometime between 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.

When it comes to being scary, Guy Turcotte and his family are experts. For nine years the Turcottes have been frightening their fellow citizens for good causes with Halloween displays, and have donated more than $15,000 to charity.

Oct. 17 - 24 was Saskatchewan Library Week! To celebrate, many regional libraries hosted events. Edam, for example, offered free home made doughnuts and gourmet coffee to visiting patrons Oct. 19, in conjunction with a book sale.
