In the words of C-3PO in Return of the Jedi, "Here we go again." As I woke on Tuesday morning to type this, the financial headlines have changed little in the past few days. "Volatility rules in global markets," the Globe and Mail said.

For the first time farmers' markets will be held in Waseca. For this year, two have been planned: August 13 and 27. The markets will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Waseca Community Centre.

Candidates have started to come forward to run in the Sept. 14 North Battleford by-election to fill the council seat vacated earlier this year by Rhonda Seidel.

FORREST: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Forrest, late of Battleford, on July 23, 2011 at the age of 103 years.

Dear Editor July 25, I attended a city council meeting to request improvements to Borden Crescent Park. In July of 2009 I attended a city council meeting to address the same issue. I was told then they would have to see about the budget.

The provincial Green party continues to line up its candidates in the northwest region as they continue to prepare for the November 7 provincial election.

BELLANGER: Andre "Andy" George Bellanger passed away peacefully in the Battleford Union Hospital, North Battleford on Monday, August 1, 2011 at the age of 83 years.

After some recent monthly declines, building permits and permit values are once again back up in North Battleford for the month of June.
