Nearly five inches of rain has fallen in this area during the past few days. Sloughs have appeared in the fields. We did need rain.

Families evacuated

Families were evacuated from a home at 1441-104th Street Sunday when a fire in a nearby detached garage threatened their multi-unit home. The fire, reported at just before 7:30 a.m., had engulfed the garage.

Ed, my neighbour next door, was upset to discover me removing the horseshoe pits in our backyard yesterday. Winning is a big deal with Ed. Out of a dozen games of horseshoes against me over the last few years, Ed has won most.

The swimming pool is open. And, if you haven't had a chance to register your child for lessons yet, you can do this right at the pool office. Public swim hours are evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and weekends 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.

DU commitment met

The Jackfish Lake Watershed Association conducted a release from Jackfish Lake in respect of maintaining its licensed level of operation and as part of its annual allocation commitment to Ducks Unlimited Canada for its Jackfish Marsh project.
