MUNESTER, LANIGAN, WATROUS — A major renovation of Muenster School, a new school in Lanigan and a renovation of the Watrous high school is on the Horizon School Division’s major projects wishlist.

CARROT RIVER— Carrot River’s 2020 budget has passed with expenses coming to $2,114,500 – an increase on 2019’s budget by seven per cent. How this will affect property taxes has not been decided by the town at this time.

TISDALE — The Tisdale Better Together committee kicked off monthly family fun nights in Tisdale. The all ages kick-off night had a DJ, dancing activities, snacks, colouring pages, and tables for people to sit and chat.

EAST CENTRAL — The school calendar is set for the Horizon School Division’s 2020-21 school year. For students, school begins on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

HUMBOLDT — Ducks Unlimited Humboldt is back again for this year’s banquet fundraiser at the Humboldt Uniplex.

MELFORT— Melfort councilor Glenn George has announced that he will be running for mayor during the city’s next municipal election. The election will take place on Nov. 9.

GUERNSEY — Mike Kwasnica, Humboldt’s fire chief, said he is still tired after the Lanigan and Humboldt fire departments responded to a train derailment near Guernsey. Around 1.2 million litres of crude oil was spilled as a result.

CARROT RIVER — David Wiens has been named the Prairie Junior Hockey League’s Rookie of the Year while playing for his hometown Carrot River Outback Thunder. “This award to me is such an honour,” Wiens said.

HUMBOLDT — Big Brothers Big Sisters Humboldt wrapped up their annual bowling fundraiser by giving their matches a fun day of bowling with the Humboldt Broncos.

TISDALE — Rylan Donald is pleased to suit up for the Tisdale Trojans to cap his midget AAA hockey career.
