NIPAWIN — Morley Doerksen, the president of Pineland Co-op’s board of directors, has been presented the Lifetime Co-operative Achievement Award in Regina.

EAST CENTRAL — Partners Family Services is expanding both their children exposed to violence program and walk-in counselling services.

HUMBOLDT — As the result of a traffic stop in Humboldt, police found methamphetamine, counterfeit U.S. currency, a prohibited firearm, ammunition and stolen identification. Humboldt RCMP conducted the stop on Oct. 16 at around 1:50 p.m.

EAST CENTRAL —The North East School Division (NESD) has approved a motion to invest funds to purchase a 15 passenger van for L.P. Miller Comprehensive School and projectors for the Hudson Bay Community School. Late in the 2018-19 school year, L.P.

WATROUS — Watrous RCMP are warning the public that their area has been the target of a phone scam, with the caller claiming to be with Service Canada. The caller is looking for information and verification of bank account and SIN numbers.

The riding of Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill, which has some areas north of Nipawin, has a new MP.

EAST CENTRAL — The country is in for a rocky ride for the next four years, said the newly reelected Conservative MP for Prince Albert. With 150 of 175 polls reporting, Randy Hoback received 20,549 out of 30,172 votes cast.

EAST CENTRAL — Kelly Block, the Conservative incumbent for Carlton Trail—Eagle Creek, has been returned to Parliament. At the time of writing, Block had received 10,569 of out 13,218 votes counted. So far, 80 out of 184 poll boxes have been counted.

MELFORT — Grade 12 Melfort and Unit Comprehensive Collegiate student Louise Lacroix has been selected to be on the province’s 2019-20 youth council.

HUMBOLDT — A Humboldt business has received a community involvement award from the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce ABEX awards. The award was presented to Spotlight Sport and Corporate Wear in Saskatoon Oct. 19.
