EAST CENTRAL — Scattered showers this past week, June 25 to July 1, brought more moisture to many areas of the province.

HUMBOLDT — Juno award-winning Canadian folk artist Valdy will be bringing his music to the Community Gathering Place for one evening this August. Humboldt is one of three stops in Saskatchewan for the Ottawa-born talent this summer.

SYLVANIA — A local barrel racer that was a fixture on the high school rodeo circuit is continuing her barrel racing career in college. Amy Bowditch, who’s from Sylvania, is on the New Mexico State University rodeo team.

TISDALE — The Tisdale RCMP responded to five motor vehicle collisions in a two week period that were all connected to drivers interacting with stop signs.

NIPAWIN — Nobody was injured as a Nipawin streetlight on Main Street that was marked for replacement by SaskPower in May collapsed across the sidewalk and onto the road. On June 29, at 4:58 pm, the Nipawin Fire Department was dispatched to the call.

ENGLEFELD — This year’s Englefeld Hogfest was a success, with just over 700 people served this year, said Englefeld recreation board president Charlie Biemans.

RED EARTH — Vandalism to a 225 Cat Trackhoe in Red Earth caused approximately $16,000 worth of damage.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders crushed the Toronto Argonauts 32-7 in their home opener for the 2019 season in a game in which they were the better team in every phase of the game.

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Broncos have acquired Tristan Shewchuk, a forward born in 2001, from the Melville Millionaires. The team made the announcement on social media on June 30.

HUMBOLDT — The Little German Band held a concert at Civic Park on July 2.
