LAKE LENORE — Lake Lenore is winding up for their 13th annual Heatwave summer event, featuring the town’s first ever Bunnock tournament.

EAST CENTRAL — The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) will look a little bit different next season, according to information released following the league’s annual general meeting.

YORKTON — The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has confirmed a case of measles the province. The case was diagnosed in Yorkton, in a returning traveler who had recently flown into the Regina airport on June 9 after overseas travel.

HUMBOLDT — St. Augustine School has received approval from the city to install a new, LED display sign on its southern wall facing Glenn Hall Drive. The approval was given at the June 10 council meeting.

MELFORT — Melfort Communities in Bloom received $35,000 from Federated Co-operatives Limited to create a community garden in Melfort.

EAST CENTRAL — A parliamentary committee is not making a recommendation whether school buses should have seat belts, urging more research on the issue.

CARROT RIVER — Police are looking for a red and black late 1980s to early 1990s Toyota quarter-ton truck that left the scene after hitting an electrified parking post and beam at the Carrot River Inn.

EAST CENTRAL — Many areas of the province that are in need of rain did not receive any this past week, June 4 to June 10. However, localized rain helped to relieve dry topsoil moisture conditions in the northwest and southeast.

NIPAWIN — In 1929, the Nipawin Legion was just a group of First World War veterans in a garage. “I had an uncle in the first war, and he was one, but that’s how this one started,” said Jim Grandfield, a Second World War veteran and Legion member.

HUMBOLDT — It was an evening to celebrate the achievements of Humboldt Collegiate’s best athletes. The high school hosted its athletic awards on June 11.
