STAR CITY — Carrot River and Star City youth got a tasty cultural experience, with a workshop on Indigenous nutrition. Shana Smokeyday gave the workshop to students at Star City School on May 31, at an event called School in the Bush.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt residents can now buy cannabis legally without leaving town. The Tweed cannabis retail store, located at Humboldt Commons, opened June 7. Miguel Kreiser, Tweed’s spokesperson, said his company was excited about the opening.

HUMBOLDT — After receiving a tip, Humboldt RCMP charged a 47-year-old Melfort man with impaired driving. Police were dispatched on May 24 at around 6:30 pm.

HUMBOLDT — The economy, health, education and were on the mind of the leader of Saskatchewan’s official opposition as he made a stop in Humboldt.

HUMBOLDT — A three party altercation in Humboldt saw two people charged. On May 22 at 4 pm, Humboldt RCMP were dispatched to an address in the 700 block of Main Street, which is the area between Seventh Avenue and Highway 5.

HUMBOLDT — A burgundy-coloured CCM mountain bike was stolen from behind a restaurant at Quill Centre. Cst. Geoff Applegate of the Humboldt RCMP said they were called to the scene in the morning of May 31.

NIPAWIN — A 41-year-old Nipawin man has been charged after police searched a Nipawin home and found drugs. The search was conducted at 10:05 am on June 4.

EAST CENTRAL — Nutrien is considering whether it should increase its potash production capacity by five million tonnes by 2023, then by another five million tonnes after that.

MELFORT — The Melfort RCMP is taking a different approach to connect with the community. After facing low turnouts at town halls, they decided to organize an open house and barbeque instead.

EAST CENTRAL — Seeding operations are mostly complete across the province, but there are a few fields still being seeded for green feed and silage.
