HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt Home Hardware has returned to local ownership. Dean Possberg and Perry Manz, along with a group of investors, brought the store and took control December 2018. They celebrated with a grand reopening on June 6.

EAST CENTRAL — The three local Junior A teams made selections for their franchises’ futures in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s annual Bantam Draft last week.

LANIGAN — Lanigan marked the end of one major project and the beginning of a new one at a public meeting held to update its citizens. It was the first time the town held a public meeting since 2014.

EAST CENTRAL — Tisdale’s Nicholas Andrusiak was surprised to be the second overall pick in last week’s Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Bantam Draft.

HUMBOLDT — Spencer McKnight’s interest in opera began when he was a teenager in LeRoy. “I started listening to opera music when I was like 15 or 16,” said the 27-year-old, who now lives in Saskatoon. “I realized I liked it. I sang along.

MELFORT — Three members of last season’s Melfort Mustangs team will be playing elsewhere next winter. Trades announced on June 4 see forward Jake Misskey, defenceman Alex Rondeau, and goaltender Noah Giesbrecht depart.

NIPAWIN — Saskatchewan Finance Minister Donna Harpauer spoke to the Nipawin Chamber of Commerce about canola and oil.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt’s Canada 150 mosaic is one part of a nationwide whole. A new book will allow residents to see what that whole looks like. The mosaic in Humboldt, located on the western side of 710 Main St., takes the form of a train car.

EAST CENTRAL — Melfort and Unit Comprehensive Collegiate will be receiving washroom upgrades, including new pipes, closed in cubicles and conversion to gender neutral use.

TISDALE — The Tisdale Elementary School archery team received a bronze in provincials, with three of their students going on to nationals and one bringing home first place.
