TISDALE — Businesses involving leaf cutter bees and eco-friendly soap were some of the entrepreneurial ideas youth presented to Community Futures NewSask.

HUMBOLDT — A-List Dance and Acrobatics wrapped up a season that included winning some national awards with a recital featuring all of the studio’s students. “Tonight was so fun. I absolutely had a blast,” said Shaya Nordick, a senior dancer.

HUMBOLDT — Babies born at the Humboldt District Hospital will now screened for early signs of hearing loss. A spokesperson for the Saskatchewan Health Authority said the screening equipment is in place and the staff were trained on its use in March.

MELFORT — Melfort council passed an amendment to the zoning bylaw to allow duplexes to be built on the west side of Orr Drive onto Shadd Drive. The rezoning made it so six lots are now zoned, which allows for six duplexes with two dwellings each.

HUMBOLDT — There’s less than a week left to sign a petition that aims to reform commercial driving training nationwide – a petition the Brons and Joseph families are urging people to sign.

MELFORT — Two dozen community members in Melfort marched to raise awareness on the climate change crisis. The ones leading the charge were students at Melfort and Unit Comprehensive Collegiate (MUCC).

EAST CENTRAL — Senior high school badminton players from Nipawin, St. Brieux, Porcupine Plain, Middle Lake, Englefeld and Carrot River will be competing in the provincials.

MUENSTER — The most valuable player at the Kelly Bates Football Camp had a tremendous attitude, made an effort to get better with every play and was extremely coachable. Emily Yanish is a Grade 8 student from Melville.

EAST CENTRAL — Junior badminton players from Muenster, Middle Lake, Bruno and LeRoy took home the district championships.
