ARMLEY — A review of the intersection where the Humboldt Broncos collision took place recommends rumble strips, wider shoulders and removal of sight-blocking trees, among other improvements.

Nominations are open for the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce’s Mark of Excellence awards. Ten awards will be presented at the 20th anniversary of the event, held March 20 and hosted by the chamber.

MELFORT — Leonard Whitney has been hired by the City of Melfort to take the position of facility manager. Whitney is expected to start the role Jan. 14.

MELFORT — The Melfort Peewee AA Mustangs will be introducing games on Hockey Night in Canada. The game they will be introducing will be featured on Dec. 22.

Since civic politicians will now have to pay tax on the one-third of their salary that used to be tax exempt, Humboldt council will increase its salaries to compensate. As of Jan. 1, the mayor’s salary will increase by $3,297.

MELFORT — Seven residents of Creekside Community in Melfort attended the council to show opposition to a motion to change a bylaw which would affect the layout of lots in their community.
