MELFORT — It’s taken almost a decade, but the province is about to fulfil its promise to rehab the service roads in the south end of Melfort at a cost of $1.4 million.

A group is standing up for diabetes with the Diabetes Canada Residential Campaign soon coming to Humboldt. Canavasers will be knocking on doors from May 1-15 looking for donations to fight diabetes. Last year, Humboldt residents raised $7,098.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. And Mayor of Humboldt, Rob Muench, is going to continue “squeaking” for the Hwy 5 passing lanes.

NIPAWIN—Nipawin council has approved an application that will let the Pineland Co-op sell firearms from its Home Centre. The decision was made at the March 26 council meeting, with an extra caveat.

People were asking for more and Tracey Reifferscheid at Infinite Creations could not offer more with the previous space she had.

After months of work, the new Sarcan location has opened on the corner of 13th Street and 5th Avenue. The new location is three times the size of their previous location on 2nd Street with 4,800 square feet of space for workers and customers.

The Humboldt Broncos are back in it. After losing both games in Nipawin, the Broncos returned home and picked up a 2-1 win over the Hawks in game three of their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League semi-final action from Humboldt.

NIPAWIN—Consider it a missed opportunity. After winning both games in Nipawin, the Hawks went out on the road and suffered a 2-1 loss to the Humboldt Broncos in Game three of the semifinals.

YELLOW QUILL—Greenwater RCMP arrested a 25-year-old Yellow Quill First Nation man in connection to a stabbing. The RCMP were called to the scene March 25, where they found a 16-year-old victim.
