NIENABER: Benny March 12, 1944 – February 18, 2017 Benny Nienaber of Humboldt, SK, (and formerly of Annaheim, SK) passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt. He was 72 years of age.

WILDEMAN: Joyce November 11, 1930 – January 31, 2017 It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of Mrs. Margaret Joyce Wildeman January 31st, 2017, at Humboldt District Hospital.

Tisdale RCMP are asking for help after a snowmobile that was broken down on a trail was stolen. The orange 2006 Arctic Cat Crossfire 700 snowmobile was stolen sometime between 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 and 9:30 a.m. on Feb.

The Carrot River Outback Thunder are hoping to come from behind this week in their Prairie Junior Hockey League North Division semifinal series. The Thunder fell 6-4 and 6-3 in the first two games of the series to the Saskatoon AGI Insurance Quakers.

Two area families were recognized for their long presence in the farming community. The Neish family from Naicam and the Farber family from Fosston received Century Family Farm Awards from Information Services Corporation.

Flu immunization rates are down this year, but it looks like peak influenza season has passed. According to information from the Kelsey Trail Health Region, 10,444 people were immunized this season.

A significant amount of narcotics, including codeine, methadone and morphine, was stolen from a Melfort business. Melfort RCMP responded to a break and enter complaint Feb. 25 at around 5 a.m.

A Nipawin woman is hoping to jumpstart a support group for caregivers of people with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Alvina Melenchenko has two granddaughters with the disorder.

The Northern Lights Palace pool now has a new booking policy that clarifies when the pool is available to rent, which groups get first priority and cancellations. The new policy was passed at a City of Melfort council meeting Feb. 13.
