With all of the devastation currently going on in Fort McMurray is it hard to feel good. While I feel horrible for all of the people who are being affected by the terrible fires I do still feel a sense of pride.

FLEISCHHACKER: Roman August 9, 1924 – May 3, 2016 The death of Mr. Roman Fleischhacker of Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He was 91 years of age.

RAMLER: Lillian September 13, 1927 – May 1, 2016 The peaceful death of Lillian (nee Sarauer) Ramler of Humboldt, SK, (and formerly of Annaheim, SK), occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the age of 88 years.

CAILLON: Rene June 20, 1924 - May 1, 2016 Rene Caillon of St. Michael’s Haven, Cudworth, SK, (and formerly of Humboldt, SK), passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon, SK. He was 91 years of age.

After months of discussion, Humboldt city council has passed the 2016 Budget.

Humboldt Fire Department received another two calls this week to attend to fires in the area. The first one on Apr. 25 was to a farm yard south of the city.

The Humboldt and District Music Festival hosted their final awards concert on May 1 at the Marysburg Assumption Church.

The Humboldt and District Music Festival continued this week with the vocal, choral and speech arts competition held at Jerome Assembly Hall in Muenster on Apr. 25-27.

The Humboldt Synchronized Swimming Club hosted their spring water show on May 1 at the Humboldt Aquatic Centre.

The Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery in partnership with the Reid-Thompson Library hosted a book launch at the Gallery on Apr. 28.
