Skiers were carving up the trails at Carlton Trail Ski Club Jan. 24, as the club hosted the Sask Cup #3 cross-country skiing race. The race brought out 65 competitors in 23 different events and skiers ranged in age from 4- 64 years old.

Before decisions can be made at council, committees are made up of city councillors and other members of the community. All committees meet once a month and then report to council on matters that were discussed.

It’s time to stop being easy on kids. Over the years kids sports has devolved from competition to just a game and school isn’t about knowledge just pushing kids through.

A woman feeling beautiful becomes a woman with high self-esteem. A woman with high self-esteem leads to a woman with confidence. A woman with confidence can do anything.

SMITH: Anne Mary February 6, 1914 – January 17, 2016 Mrs. Anne Mary (nee Saretsky) Smith of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, SK, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Humboldt District Hospital. She was 101 years of age.

UHLL: Carole Ann 1941 - 2016 It is with great sadness our family announces Carole’s passing on Monday, January18, 2016, with her family by her side. Carole was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on December 25, 1941 to James and Theresa Koski.

On Jan. 12 during the first intermission of the Humboldt Broncos home game against the Notre Dame Hounds, members of the community were recognized at centre ice for winning provincial championships.

The Saskatchewan Safety Council partnered with Discovery Ford to bring the Skidsmart Collision Avoidance program to Humboldt from Jan. 12-15 and Jan. 19-22.

The legion got a fresh voice at their last meeting on Jan. 13. After four years as president, Larry Cameron was forced to step aside as per legion rules.
