The auction hall was standing room only Thursday, Dec. 12 for Kramer Auction Ltd.'s fourth annual land auction. A total of 32 quarters of land were sold by auction and 37 were leased by auction.

The RM of Glenside held a byelection for reeve on Dec. 4 at the R.M. office in Biggar. Kim Custer of Division 5 ran against Garry Hoppe from Division 3. Hoppe was elected, taking over from Wade Parkinson.

There were many Christmas themed events going on last week. The Red Hat ladies outdid themselves again this year with their festival of trees. Last year I thought, "they can't be more beautiful," but each year they area.

This active little community has had another busy week, with Christmas programs and gatherings of clubs to play cards or for meetings. The Meota choir entertained at Ruth Manor Dec. 11, with an appreciative audience of residents and staff.

Dawn Gray who runs the Maymont Hotel had an unexpected guest last week, Bob Hart from Hart Guns, Penn., dropped in for lunch. For 60 years Harts have been custom building and modifying long-range bolt action rifles.

Christmas activities enjoyed

Rose Danychuk had her sister Midred Prokop of Saskatoon visit with her while Mildred's son went on to Edmonton. The ladies who went to the carol service in the Anglican Church Monday evening would like to say thanks to Elaine Dearbon for taking them.
