In the Community

Hello again. It's been a little cooler this last few days, but we've been so lucky so far this fall, no snow and the sun seems to always peek through. Can we be so lucky in November? We'll have to just wait and see.

Take some time for yourself this week and enjoy the current exhibition at the Chapel Gallery. "Only Human" is a collection of works by Saskatoon artist, Iris Hauser.

On what seemed like a long weekend for everyone else at John Paul II, the teachers were actually at the school! Over the course of two days, the teachers learned about the new PowerSchool program, as well as attended a faith in-service.

Students from the Comp in Action Club from North Battleford Comprehensive High School put on their scary faces as they created a Haunted House at the Western Development Museum, Oct. 29.

Five Grade 10 students from H. Hardcastle School in Edam placed second in a provincial cooking competition Oct. 22 weekend.

Several students from Grades 5 to 8 attended the Punt, Pass, Kick competition at St. Vital School in Battleford, Oct. 15. The purpose of this competition is to promote minor football in Saskatchewan.

There were 32 out for the Borden Friendship Club's October potluck supper and birthdays, Oct. 26. Blowing out the candles on the cake baked by Lorraine Olinyk was Peter Thiessen, the sole October birthday guy.

Santa's red and purple elves were back at it again this week in Maidstone. The Royal Eccentric Dynamic Hatters added a lot of glimmer and glitz to the atrium of the Maidstone Health Complex in preparation for their Festival of Trees later this month.

People always ask, "So what is new in Rabbit Lake?" Well there is always something happening in and around the village if you take the time to look for it. Earlier in the month some of the class of '64 had a reunion in North Battleford.

Halloween was quiet in our community. The weather was favourable so most kids took to the streets after school in this annual tradition.
