LANIGAN — The Town of Lanigan will be receiving a new educational facility following an announcement from Horizon School Division and the provincial government.

The Battleford Co-op Food Store has reopened as of this past weekend, following a deep cleaning after an employee tested positive for COVID-19 last week. The store closed last Tuesday evening following word of the positive COVID-19 test.

EAST CENTRAL — Starting Aug. 24, masks will be required for staff, students and visitors at all Cumberland College locations amid the Covid-19 pandemic as physical distancing cannot be guaranteed in all spaces.

An 18-year-old Grandmother’s Bay man appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on firearms charges. Pacey McKenzie, 18, is charged with pointing a firearm, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm.

There are three new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Aug. 24 and one case deemed to be an out-of-province resident has been removed from the Saskatchewan count. This brings the total to 1,602 reported cases.

A couple charged in connection to numerous break ins and thefts across Central Saskatchewan had more court appearances. Cody Kemick, 37, had an appearance scheduled on Aug. 20 for plea and election but the matter was adjourned to Aug. 27.

RED EARTH CREE NATION — A 21-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder in connection with a stabbing at the Red Earth Cree Nation.
