The adults in North Battleford had their say in the 2016 municipal election, but if it were only students under 18 who had voted, the results would have been much different. Guy Turcotte, Steve Cormons and Herman Bugler Jr.

Oct. 28 was the latest date to come and go in the ongoing Maryann Germann fraud case in North Battleford Provincial Court. Germann is charged with fraud in connection to her activities as administrator at the RM of Meota.

Unity is getting a new mayor after the results of the municipal election. Ben Weber soundly defeated incumbent mayor Sylvia Maljan to take over the mayor’s chair. Final returns showed Weber with 561 votes to 140 for Maljan.

After several months with an interim mayor, a new mayor has been elected to take over in the town of Kindersley. Rod Perkins won the mayor’s race there with 935 votes, defeating Tom Morris who received 435.

The highly competitive Village of Meota election race was decided Wednesday night with the incumbent mayor returning to office. John MacDonald was re-elected mayor with 141 votes, compared to 36 for Nicolle Griffith.

The council races in North Battleford and Battleford may have been sedate, but that was not the case in other cities.

Battlefords RCMP conducted more than 50 investigations between 6 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 and 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. Wednesday, Oct. 26 6:59 a.m. - Report of a fence to a business being rammed on 18th Street in Battleford.

With the results in from last night's election in Battleford, residents will have two new voices to represent them around the council table.

Battleford's election results are in and Ames Leslie has been unofficially declared mayor with 680 votes. Challenging Leslie in the mayor's race was David George, who received 347 votes.

The annual award from the M. Junice Headley Music Education Fund with the Battlefords and District Community Foundation was awarded to Jacelyn Stabbler of Unity.
