Once again, Fire Prevention Week produced its share of excitement.

Drivers are being advised the intersection of Pioneer Avenue and 114th Street will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 7 and Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. as crews work to upgrade the storm sewer there.

The North Battleford RCMP received approximately 20 calls for service between 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6 and 6 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7.

The Canadian Red Cross has launched the Red Cross Campaign for Kids Raffle, with proceeds going to help Saskatchewan students learn how to address and prevent bullying.

A group of practical nursing students at North West Regional College reached out to the homeless people in the Battlefords as part of their class assignment Sept. 24.

Motorists are being asked to be extra careful near the Fas Gas at 391 Railway Avenue in North Battleford Monday, Oct. 6 and Tuesday, Oct. 7. The eastbound lane of Railway Avenue will be closed Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The North Battleford RCMP detachment received more than 60 calls for service between 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 and 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6.

"We know students without hope aren't going to come to school," was the message of a presentation to John Paul II Collegiate staff Monday. The kids were out of school, but the teachers were busy learning.

A warning to aggressive drivers - you may find yourself on the wrong end of a traffic ticket in October. "Aggressive driving is quite common for us to see," said Sgt. Colin Glas with the Regina Police Service.

Fuel was stolen from the underground tanks at the Maidstone Husky Gas Station sometime between 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 and 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2. The suspects proceeded to break the locks on the tanks.
