A 34-year-old Battleford man is facing weapons and drug charges after being arrested by Battlefords Rural RCMP Detachment members on 2nd Avenue in Battleford Monday. According to police, a call was received at about 9:45 a.m.

Battleford Lloydminster Federal Liberal Association held an annual general meeting recently and, according to a press release, is preparing to contest the riding in the expected 2015 election.

The transition to a new biweekly garbage and recycling regime in North Battleford will mean a new bylaw to cover the changes. The city plans to bring in a new waste management bylaw, which will replace the existing bylaw.

The Lloydminster Municipal RCMP request the public's assistance in locating 15-year-old Ebonie Lee Brertton. Ebonie was last seen by her family Thursday April 17.

Battlefords RCMP were called out to more than 20 occurrences between 6 a.m. Thursday, April 24 and 6 a.m. Friday, April 25. Among those calls were three false alarms, five false/nuisance 911 calls and four traffic related complaints.

The Town of Battleford will be using a new building inspector as of May 1. Monday council members passed a bylaw to enter into an agreement with Construction Code Authority, a company incorporated by Ryan Shepherd of North Battleford on June of 2013.

Battleford's budget has been approved and the mill rate set, holding it to last year's levy of 3.85 mills. Town council approved the budget and the mill rate by bylaw Monday.

The Water Security Agency is advising the public to be aware of the potential for ice jamming to occur on the North Saskatchewan River. The ice cover on the Saskatchewan River system is in the process of breaking up.

The switchover to the new biweekly garbage and recycling collection is now underway. On Tuesday, Earth Day, the new black and blue carts began arriving at the City's storage facility located near the airport.

Battlefords RCMP responded to more than 20 calls for service/occurrences between 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 23 and 6 a.m. Thursday, April 24. One of those calls, responded to at 3:49 a.m.
