People showing up in North Battleford Provincial Court March 19 were told by security staff they weren’t required to attend today and to return in about 10 weeks. In response to COVID-19, Saskatchewan Courts have reduced court operations.

The Red Pheasant Cree Nation band election scheduled for March 20 is scheduled to go ahead despite concerns about the COVID-19 virus.

Finance Minister Donna Harpauer presented the province’s budget estimates on Wednesday in lieu of a full budget. It showed a 3.1 per cent increase to spending, and 3.8 per cent raise for health services.

HUMBOLDT—The City of Humboldt has announced the closure of city hall to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

TISDALE— The Town of Tisdale has closed their town office to the public in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This measure was taken on March 19. On March 16, both the Town of Nipawin and the City of Melfort closed their municipal offices.

The long list of local businesses closing their doors due to COVID-19 now includes the Gutters Bowling and Game Centre. They announced on March 17 their closure on a temporary basis.

Asking the province for help with food resources

TISDALE — Approximately $2,400 has been raised from a fundraising night for a family who lost all their possessions in a Tisdale fire.

The Battlefords Humane Society is having to adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

HUMBOLDT — Those that need it can still get food from the Humboldt Soup Kitchen, but it will be pick up only. On Tuesdays between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
