If all goes as planned a vacant lot on 100th Street is slated to be the location of a new strip mall development.

Mayor Ryan Bater was beaming Monday night over the development happening in the city of North Battleford.

Battlefords RCMP were alerted at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to the arrival of a woman at Battlefords Union Hospital who appeared to have a gunshot wound to the leg.

MELFORT — Council voted to change utility collection on water and sewage so that cities can transfer unpaid utility charges to the property tax roll.

Council is aiming to complete the 2019 city budget before the year is done. At their Sept. 10 meeting, council approved a set of timelines in which the budget will be finished.

MELFORT — Melfort council passed a motion, six to one, to invest $50,000 into replacing windows on the historic post office and install an art installation donor wall. The windows will be replaced with historic replicas.

The provincial government is cracking down on impaired driving with new penalties. The new rules will have zero tolerance for drivers that get behind the wheel with any detectable level of impairing drugs in their system.

An awkward and unsafe downtown intersection will soon see a redesign. The city has put out a tender that calls on contractors to bid on the creation of a new design for the Main Street and 5th Avenue intersection.
