CARROT RIVER — Carrot River and the RM of Moose Range are close to hiring a new fire chief. The two municipalities received 13 applicants for the position, which was advertised as equivalent to 0.6 of a full-time job.

KELVINGTON — Greenwater RCMP are asking for help after a man attempted to convince a six-year-old Kelvington girl to get into his vehicle. The child ran for help and the male drove off in his vehicle. The event happened July 18 at around 8 p.m.

A Canadian Pacific derailment Tuesday near Rockhaven did not result in any environmental damage, according to Cut Knife RCMP. Police report that seven cars carrying liquid asphalt derailed at about 6 p.m.
