A bizarre kidnapping incident that started at the Capitol Theatre and ended with a hostage being tied up and left in a hole outside the Battlefords has been dealt with in the courts.

Community safety co-ordinator Herb Sutton gave his monthly monitoring report to council Monday and included an update about six individuals identified as prolific offenders in the downtown core.

Opposition leader Cam Broten reflected on 2015 and is looking forward to the election year 2016. In a conference call with news reporters Tuesday the NDP leader reflected on the legislative session that wrapped up in November.

SPIRITWOOD — Spiritwood RCMP are investigating attempted fraud by a young woman at three local businesses Wednesday, Dec. 16. According to police, the business described the actions of a woman, estimated to be about 19 years old, as suspicious.

The City of North Battleford is throwing its backing behind a bid to land the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games. Council voted to pass a resolution to move forward with a bid application, which needs to be in by Jan. 11.

North Battleford city council moved swiftly Monday to clamp down on panhandling activities in the community. A new panhandling bylaw was introduced at Monday’s council meeting and passed in three readings.
