Stitch by stitch students at Maidstone High School are reaching out to others. Members of the Grade 10 Home Economics class recently completed a module in their clothing, fashion and textiles unit called "Charitable Sewing.

It might be a little longer before the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame installs the largest bat in Canada. The Battleford and District Parks and Recreation Board presented the minutes from its April 19 meeting at the May 7 council meeting.

It was a great initiative but a little hard to pull off. Englefeld's School Community Council (SCC) held a fundraiser on May 5 to raise money for the school's staging, but the competition was stiff.

The hot-button issue of municipal amalgamation raised its head at a State of the City State of the Town address Tuesday. Possible amalgamation of North Battleford and Battleford came up on the heels of Mayor Chris Odishaw's address.

There were fireworks inside, but also some action outside the Uniplex on May 4.

Based on what mayors Chris Odishaw and Ian Hamilton had to say, the state of the Battlefords is very good indeed.

The Blaine Lake Gospel Chapel celebrated its 100th anniversary April 29 with over 150 in attendance. Wayne King opened the service with prayer and welcome.

Although it is one year away, the Hafford centennial committee is hard at work planning for the town and rural municipality's 100th anniversary.

This is a very sad story. Another farm accident led to another funeral. My cousin Mike's son was buried Oct. 11, 1994.
